The Cultural Hackathon is an initiative developed to connect minority students with corporate representatives via a community service project in 2016. Since then, Chanel Beebe has been assigned as the Cultural Hackathon Thought Leader and has developed programming that connects engineering students to community partners in equitable ways using the design process. Thus far, ten Cultural Hackathons have been held in various settings. This presentation will discuss the successes of previous Hackathons and the vision for the future of the Cultural Hackathon. Audience members will gain insight into the program, how different theories can help us think about aspects of the program, and provide feedback on next steps.
